Country Divide

In the early hours of the 9th of February 2025, a debate happened in the #general channel of the Tech Crew Discord server. It all started when Josh Heng commented that Hull is not in the north of the country after some earlier discourse.1 After Dallon replied, saying that 'Hull is not in the south'2, Josh proceeded to reply with the following image (Figure 1):

Josh's North-South Divide

Negative reactions ensued, with many active Tech Crew members at the time being confused at what Josh had depicted. As a reaction to what Josh had created, Sid then proceeded to reply with the following image (Figure 2):

Sid's North-South Divide

Immediately following that, George replied with Figure 3:

George's North-South Divide

After some more reactions to the depiction of Scotland as a 'wasteland,' as well as a profane dismissal from Rowan6, Stan decided to further contribute to the conversation with Figure 4:

Stan's North-South Divide

At this point in the conversation, Josh proceeded to create the original version of this wiki page.8 This appeared to be an attempt at settling the debate once and for all, as Josh asked, 'what is the tech crew source of truth?' The original version of this exact wiki page only featured Figure 1. Given that most members of Tech Crew rely on the wiki for all things Tech Crew, it would imply that Josh tried to make this the officially recognised North-South divide by Tech Crew. Unfortunately for Josh, that was not how things worked, and indeed to most members of Tech Crew, no one had recognised this divide at all, other than Josh. Later on in the conversation, Matt provided their own North-South divide, from 2023 (Figure 5):

This is where the discourse ended regarding the North-South divide. For almost a year, Josh's North-South divide was the only one displayed on the wiki, provoking the reactions of newcomers that came across it. On the 15th of January 2026 however, Echo had edited the wiki page to only show Matt's North-South divide (Figure 5). It had stayed as such until Caleb decided to rewrite this entire wiki page to create a history of the above's fateful discourse on the 17th of February 2026, with proper footnote citations in the MHRA 4th edition format.
